Following the TOBB 75th General Assembly, Mayor Şahin visited the 6th Magrotex’19 International Mardin Agricultural Equipment Food and Livestock Fair which we organized with the cooperation of Kızıltepe Commodity Exchange and Zümrüt Fair Organization between May 01-04 2019. President Mehmet Şahin, who visited member companies and thanked the companies for their participation in the fair, listened to the demands and expectations of the participants. After the visits, he evaluated the event. In his statement, Şahin said “In the 6th International Mardin Agriculture and Food Fair, all kinds of technological innovations and developments related to agriculture were exhibited in fields such as agricultural technologies and equipment, food and food machinery, irrigation systems, seed, seedling, beekeeping, organic farming, fertilization and spraying. We had the opportunity to listen to the demands and expectations of our member companies and farmers in the fair. Our farmers closely followed the new developments in the agricultural sector and examined the innovations in the agricultural sector. Our farmers have seen how agricultural production is realized through modern practices. They had detailed information about the subject.”

Mehmet Şahin, President of Kızıltepe Commodity Exchange, emphasizing the increase in input costs of agricultural production, added “In order to relieve the farmer, input costs such as diesel oil, fertilizer, feed, electricity, seed and medicine should be reduced to reasonable levels. The demand for low-interest loans to our farmers should be met and electricity fees should be reduced to a reasonable level. Also, the demands and expectations of the industrialists operating in the flour sector are important. Pursuant to the communiqué of the Ministry of Trade, the continuation of the import-based import wheat application has brought our industrialists in great difficulty. Unless this practice is terminated, the approach of July, which is the wheat harvest season, will be difficult for the farmers to sell wheat and supply and demand, since our industrialists will not be able to purchase wheat from our farmers. It is our greatest expectation and hope that the export of domestic wheat flour will be terminated as soon as possible by terminating the export of flour based on imported wheat which will cause the grievances of our farmers, as we provided a detailed report containing the demands and expectations of our province to the Minister of Commerce. Unfortunately, the biggest obstacle in front of the Industrialists in our region at the moment is pointing out that the high interest rates, the investors shy away as they have to pull down interest rates almost like a wall in spite of all obstacles. I congratulate all our traders and industrialists who insist on producing, investing, opening themselves to world markets, providing employment and eventually have contributed to the growth of our country by working faithfully.”
