The distribution of the products to be supported on basin category within “Turkish National Agricultural Support Model” developed by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock was announced. With the directives of the Minister of Food, Agriculture and Livestock Faruk Çelik, the indicated 941 agriculture basins through the model which would enable agriculture to be done within a program, the lands to be sowed accordingly, prevent product surplus and diminish supply and demand inequality, the product lists were published. Assessments were made on 19 products (wheat, barley, rye, rice, corn, triticale, oat, lentils, chickpeas, beans, cotton, soy, sunflower for oil, canola, safflower, tea, walnuts, olive oil and feed plants) which have demand shortfall, importance strategically and regionally as well as to human nutrition and for animal products within the basin-based support applications. As for the mentioned products, Decision Support System’s more than 1 billion data consisting of statistical data, sowing shifts, climate, soil and topography, water data (existing water potential and plant water consumption), public institutions’, NGOs’ and universities’ recommendations resulted in the distributiveness of the products based on 941 basins/districts. The letter that the cooperatives, unions, chambers and producers should be notified on the distribution lists of products supported by the model to be launched in 2017 session were delivered to city and district directorates. |
